Players Prepare to Return Home from the Nationals
Hank Dowdell For our 10 players in Las Vegas, the competition is over. Soon they'll be flying home to bask in the glory of having made it all the way to the "big one," the National Championships.

Bob Ewing, Hank Dowdell, Greg Dukelow, Angelo Dos Santos Jr., Harold Leininger, Jason Smith and Jim Boaz all did a great job while competing in the 8-Ball Classic. Angelo made a big splash in the Yellow Tier (SL 4 and 5) by finishing in a fantastic 9th place.

In the 9-Ball Shootout, Becky Pienta and Paul LeCain Jr. gave it their all. Becky finished in 17th-place in the White Tier (SL 4-5), and Paul captured a 9th-place finish in the Black Tier (SL 6-9).

Four of our players – Al Brower and Susan Weber, and Tracy and Louise Bellamy – teamed up to compete in the Jack & Jill Championship. Although both teams had triple-digit finishes, that didn't stop them from having a lot of fun. Tracy celebrated his birthday on April 30 and was joined by several friends from The Flamingo who flew to Las Vegas to participate in the celebration.

Mike and Carol are extremely proud of our players who competed in the Nationals. Final standings can be seen below:

If You've Ever Dreamed of Going to Vegas ...
... then stop dreaming and just get qualified! Once you've won a local qualifier, you are then eligible to compete against players from Pinellas and other local Florida leagues in the next Regional Singles Tournament. And when you win a Regional Singles Tournament ... it's on to Vegas!

The journey to the Nationals begins with a local qualifier, and we just happen to have some qualifiers scheduled for our 8-ball and 9-ball players.
  • Sunday - May 18 at Corner Pocket Billiards. 5:30 p.m. start time; last qualifier will start at 7:30 pm.
  • Thursday - May 22 at Corner Pocket Billiards. 6:30 p.m. start time; last qualifier will start at 8:30 pm.
A few changes have been made for our upcoming Regionals: First, the standard 8-ball 4/5 tier has been divided into two separate tiers, where SL4s will compete against other SL4s and SL5s will compete against SL5s. Second, qualified 9-ball players will now get TWO chances to win a slot to Vegas! If enough 9-ball players get qualified throughout each qualifying period, we'll be holding 9-ball Regional Tournaments twice a year (same as 8-ball).

The cutoff date for 8-ball and 9-ball players to qualify for the October Regionals is June 15, so don't delay!
