"No Name" News
Fifty-eight players partnered up on January 28 for our session-ending "No Name" Tournament at Side-Pocket Billiards.This session the tournament format was 9-ball Scotch Doubles with a maximum team skill level of 11. Top finishers were paid down to 8th place, and a '9 on the Snap' pot was split by four players: Chad Kosier (twice), Fritz Rethemeyer, Craig “Shrek” Mudd and Rob Hermance.
Our 1st-place tournament winners were Charlie Pernot and Drew Robishaw. They shared the $182 top prize for their outstanding playing. Great shooting, guys!
Second-place winners of $92 were Harold Leininger and Alysha VanBuren. Way to go!
Winners of the $54 prize for 3rd place were Rob Hermance and Tom Russell, while Jeff McAdams and Jessica Lulucki took home $42 for 4th place. Our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-place winners all split the remainder of the prize money. Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament. Thanks also to Side-Pocket Billiards for doing such a great job of hosting, and special thanks to Carol and Mike Konak for always working tirelessly to give the players a forum for some top-notch competition.
Christmas Tournament News
Thanks to the forty-two players who participated in our annual Benefit Christmas Tournament on Saturday, December 3, the special-needs students at Nina Harris School will have a little more money in their budget next year.The tournament took place at The Corner Pocket and was a 3-person 8-ball event featuring raffles throughout the day. Special thanks to Harold Leininger, who brought donuts for everyone.
Congratulations to our winners Andrew Kominik, Bernie Krajewski, and Bruce Marks. They each received a trophy for their awesome playing. Our runners up were Jon Curtis, Stephanie Mitchell, and Michelle Rich. Great shooting, everyone!The winner of the main raffle was Jason Baker, who won a soft cue case and cue stick (graciously donated by Flamingo Bar) and a $25 Applebee's gift card. Congratulations, Jason!
Other raffle winners included Joey Gloss ($75 Applebee's gift card) and Jeff McAdams ($25 Applebee's gift card).
Hard to believe, but league operators Mike and Carol Konak managed to fit some playing time into their busy schedule this year! To commemorate this rare event, players who were able to beat Mike and Carol on the tables won a special "I beat the League Operator" patch. Congratulations to Tim Lazzaro, Spring Gillis, Phong Nguyen, Jenni Canning, and Steve Ryan for earning a patch.
At the end of the day the APA of south Pinellas had raised a total of $543 for the children at Nina Harris School! Thanks to The Corner Pocket for hosting the event this year, and thanks to everyone for their support!

Scratch-Off Ticket Winners
Congratulations to Adrian Byerly, Arvilla Fischer, Roy Dove, Andy Whitney, Spring Gilliss, Jeff Dow, Bob Ewing, Mike Stampfi, and Harold Leininger! Top Gun Winners
The 71 players who competed in our annual Top Gun Tournament at Side-Pocket Billiards weren't just competing for the title "Best of the Best." A total of $1,420 in cash payouts was up for grabs along with some awesome trophies for the winners and runners-up.The November 19 invitation-only tournament was open to all 8-ball and 9-ball 2010-2011 Top Guns from the past three sessions. Players competed at the skill level they possessed one week prior to the tournament.
After 12 long but exciting hours of competition, our Top Gun winners and runners-up were named. Congratulations to the following players:
