Play Pool ... Win MoneyMany of our local taverns regularly hold 8-ball and 9-ball tournaments for cash prizes. Most of these establishments are APA hosts, which means you can get some valuable practice time and tournament experience on the tables on which you'll be competing during league nights.Tournament days and times may change and tournament rules can vary, so call the host location first for information. The information on this page is frequently updated, so check back often! If you know of a local tournament that you'd like to see displayed on this page, e-mail us at pool@apapinellas.com. We'll be happy to list tournaments for any pool halls and taverns located south of Ulmerton Road in Pinellas County. If you are aware of any changes to any of the tournaments listed on this page, please contact us to let us know!

![]() Tournament Tidbit
Most of the local tournaments listed on this page follow a "double elimination" format. This means that players continue to compete in the tournament until they have lost two matches.
Know Your ABCs
Occasionally you'll see references to "A," "B," and sometimes even "C" players. These letters refer to player skill levels.
"A" players are generally considered the best in town. In order to attract as many participants as possible, many taverns do not allow "A" players to compete in weekly tournaments. (It wouldn't be much fun for us mere mortals if we knew we couldn't win!) Most tournament players fall under the "B" category – they are comfortable with a cue stick in their hands and usually able to hold their own against the rest of the field. "C" players are generally new, unskilled players who possess an uncanny knack for getting "A" players to give up all their pool secrets. |
